After cutting, twisting, transforming, stacking and extending like whiskers, H-beams were turned into a giant broom, with some balloons floating near the spiral handle. Yi-Chang Chen crafted this giant broom titled “Keep Clean” with many H-beams, iron sheets and steel material. The point is to sweep away the annoyances, troubles and unhappiness in life here! If you have the need, he will lend you this broom.
Artist Yi-Chang Chen was born in Kaohsiung in 1980, and has participated in Ciaozihtou, Hsinchu and Chiayi’s railroad art village as an artist-in-residence. He is full of creative energy and became the youngest artist-in-residence at Tung Ho Steel Enterprise Corporation in 2011. His works give color to the otherwise dull steel, and create a great contrast both physically and cognitively to the cold and heavy steel, while crafting interesting industrial textures.
