Encountering a Rainbow
Material: Paper pulp, dye
Chieh-Hsin Tsai is good at delivering feelings of simplicity and warmth through paper pulp sculptures. She focuses on emotional connections between people in our modern fast-paced, busy lives. Unlike more commonly-seen stone or bronze sculpture, Chieh-Hsin Tsai chooses to work with the warmer, softer paper pulp as her material.
She is interested in humans' unique abilities to express our emotions, fashioning physical gestures like hand-holding and smiling to convey the imperceptible sensations in our lives.
